If you love the outdoors but are against the idea of sleeping in a tent then consider Emerald Glamping for your next self-catering short break or staycation. The folks at Emerald Glamping have literally cut up a small hotel into room sized chunks and dotted them, here and there, within a private setting in the Boglands of Ireland.
The room sized chunks include mongolian inspired yurts and rustic wood cabins. They sit within the landscape with ease allowing nature to showcase itself in all its splendour. Rusticity, combined with the green of foliage, then the abundance of floral beauty make it all a visual feast. An orchestra of wild birds then sing background music to enhance this feast of the senses.
Glamping with Emerald Glamping is a gentle affair. The glampsite has a village feel where you can chat to your neighbor, or not if you prefer. The communal campfire is often a hotbed of friendly chatter and camaraderie where new friendships have been forged over the glowing embers and the scent of woodsmoke on the evening breeze. Whether you prefer your own company or like to run with the glamping herd, at Emerald Glamping you can walk your own path.
The yurts are idyllic and include a wood deck with furniture, a door that locks, gorgeous decor and comfortable beds. The large yurts, Apple Tree and Plum Tree, have electric blankets, wifi, heating and lighting. They also have carpet, plus hand crafted furniture set in a generous sized space. They are perfect for couples who may want that extra bit of luxurious space.
The little yurts, Bluebell and Strawberry, are ideal for couples to cosy up in for a few nights. They are off grid so have no electricity; but the wifi is still present, and also the carpet, warm comfy beds and deck furniture. Nestled within the orchard at Emerald Glamping the Bluebell and Strawberry yurts are like lovely cocoons where you can disappear into for a time, then reappear when you have relaxed, unwound and transformed into your old, unstressed self.
Let us not forget the cabins; Oh the cabins. The Blackberry Cottage with its black and white decor and a comfy double bed. The cabin also has electric heating, sockets and so much more. Outside, the deck is covered, not unlike a porch from a Sergio Leone western, to keep you dry. There is no trilogy here though, only The Good. The Blueberry and Rosehip cabins are spacious and beautiful. With comfort and decor to the fore you will be delighted, calm and satisfied within your chosen abode. Finally, The Grand Canal Cottage. The cabin for 2. Absolutely joyous to behold with a marine theme, king sized bed and ample deck.
On-site facilities include a wood-fired pizza oven and a rustic kitchen with a fridge, gas oven and hob, microwave plus all utensils. Filtered drinking water is on tap in the kitchen. Gas grills are available to use for your outdoor cooking.
The thatched crannog is awaiting your presence where you can sit, sing or contemplate. And a giant greenhouse, furnished with sofas and armchairs, is your escape from inclement weather. Emerald Glamping has you covered for all eventualities. The communal campfire has all the wood you can burn and the showers have piping hot water.
Walking through the grounds you will discover gravelled pathways, wood boardwalks, lawns, hedging, trees, hedgerows, ponds and more. Rabbits and Hares pass through often and the occasional hedgehog pays a visit also. Birds are not in short supply neither are bats. Check out the local wildlife on the Facebook page, Wild Offaly and Beyond.
If you get fed up with all of the above you could take a stroll up the Grand Canal, or maybe a cycle, or even a paddle. Head to Castle Barna, just 4 minutes away, for a round of golf. For water based fun Grand Canal Adventures has a great selection of equipment to enjoy the Grand Canal with. Or head off in the car and explore. With so much to see and do within an hour of Emerald Glamping it makes the perfect base to experience Ireland from.
